Our Lady of Guadalupe

I’m drawn to this rose by the soft pink color and sweet fragrance that seems to harken back to a simpler time in our lives. Our Lady of Guadalupe has a relaxed ambiance, making it the perfect bush near our patio. Its diminutive size is advantageous because Arizona-grown roses tend to become overly large because of our growing conditions.

I found my rose in a Jackson & Perkins catalog back in 2020, and it quickly became one of my favorites. I consider it part of my shrine to San Ysidro, the patron saint of farmers, gardeners, and workers. San Ysidro has been the patron saint of my garden for the past 10 years. I may not be Catholic, but the shrine gives me a place to meditate and be thankful for all the beauty surrounding me.
