The Puttering Rosarian

Julie Andrews

Julie Andrews is not as big or productive as many of the roses in my garden, but when it blooms, it is fantastic. I love the bright fushia colored flowers, and the yellow centers set the color off even more. It’s not as robust as other roses in the area, but it’s doing well in the dappled sunlight on the west edge of my garden. I might need to relocate it for next season.

I was looking to buy some roses from April & Ashley this spring and was struck by how great the flowers looked in the catalog. I had toured Francis Roses in January and wanted to support its new online retail venture. They did a great job packaging the bare-root rose and getting it to me in January. When introduced in France, the rose was called ‘Pink Paradise’ in 2004. Certified Nurseries (TX) presented the rose as ‘Julie Andrews’ when it was launched in the United States during 2020.
